Barton Stacey Pre-School
The Brief
A pro bono project for a local community playgroup who approached me to help them rebrand as part of a relocation from their old location in a community village hall to their new premises in the village school grounds. The brief was to create a fresh, vibrant and contemporary look and feel appropriate for a pre-school retaining some symbolic references to its heritage as a playgroup and links to the local environs and wildlife, namely the local river popular with swans and their cygnets.
The Approach
The old logo (see before/after slider below) was much loved among the community and staff alike, so it was important to retain some of its qualities in the rebrand, while reflecting the new direction of the group in their transition from playgroup to pre-school. This was achieved by keeping the iconic cygnets, but giving them a fresh new look and feel in a simplified nest, referencing the staff's name for the new building 'the nest'. The palette and typography work together to create a bright, colourful and playful tone appropriate for the client.
Since its launch in early 2018 the logo has been used on a variety of applications ranging from uniforms to signage and promotional materials for fundraising events, and has received extremely positive feedback.
