A Poster for Tomorrow
The Brief
As part of a final year student project, submit work to a live competition. In response to the 'poster for tomorrow' project 2018 competition, select one of 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and make a poster to: 1) raise awareness of a sustainable development goal; 2) show how people or institutions can help achieve a SDG and contribute to a planet for tomorrow. The poster needed to communicate the message that "achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is essential for a planet for tomorrow – this is how you can contribute to achieving one of the SDGs" (posterfortomorrow, 2018).
The Approach
The challenge for this brief was communicating both parts of the message in one outcome, as the brief required posters must not only raise awareness of the chosen SDG, but also demonstrate HOW people can help achieve that goal. We've all seen images of ice bergs made out of plastic bags and images of earth melting to signify ocean plastic pollution and global warming, but this brief needed an extra dimension beyond that - showing how we can help be part of the solution.
I chose to represent SDG 13: Climate Action. The aim of this design was to inform and empower people of 3 simple ways they can help fight climate change. The word mark in the bottom corner is designed to be used across all aspects of a campaign and collateral materials.
